Teresa Edwards has the distinction of having been both the youngest and the oldest Gold Medalist for an Olympic women’s team. She became the first American basketball player to participate in five Olympic Games and the first American female to win a medal in five consecutive Olympics. Four Gold medals and One Bronze.

Unequivocally legendary, Teresa has been inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Hall of Fame, The United States Olympic Committee Hall of Fame, The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Georgia’s Hall of Fame, Cairo’s Hall of Fame, NCAA Silver Anniversary Award and the University of Georgia’s “Circle of Honors” where her college jersey number (#5) is retired.

Most recognizable globally, she played abroad for nine years. Traveling throughout the world from Europe and Asia she captured professional championships in Italy, Spain, and France. Here at home, she has been a player and coach in the Women’s National Basketball Association. An ambassador and leader among her peers, Teresa was selected to take the competitor’s Oath at the Opening Ceremonies of the Atlanta Olympic games.

In 2012, the United States Olympic Committee appointed her ‘chef de mission’ for the United States delegation at the London Olympic Games. Sports Illustrated magazine places her as 22nd of the “100 Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Century”. Teresa Edwards is the embodiment of winning, she is a legend and she is American history.
