Ed Silvera is the VP of Development for the CBA. He began as an on-air personality at WRFG- Atlanta. This quickly evolved into Underwriting and Event Coordinator. Ed was introduced to video production at Cable Access Channel 12. There, from 1985-88, he produced and hosted a talk show entitled Open Studio.

He was hired by the City of Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs as a key member of the production staff and played a major role in the production of the internationally renowned Atlanta Jazz Festival and the Montreux Atlanta Music and the first World Drum and Dance Summit in 1993 that involved over one-hundred international drummers and dancers.

Ed assisted in conceptual development and served as Operations Manager for the world-famous UniverSoul Circus’ inaugural performance in Atlanta in 1994. He was the Permit Manager for the 1998 and 1999 twenty-eight city national tours of The Circus.

As Program Manager for the Study of African Culture, he managed the 94, ’95 and ’96 World Drum and Dance Summit at Clark Atlanta University and in association with the 1996 Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games and the National Black Arts Festival. In the winter of ’97, he produced several major jazz performances and cultural arts incentives at Morris Brown College; Jamaica, West Indies, and several universities throughout the southeast. He was also an Associate Music Curator for the 1998 National Black Arts Festival involving booking over twenty international artists from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Africa.

As an accomplished videographer, Ed has 30 years of experience on numerous television and industrial projects. As a professional still photographer, his credits include government and private organizations as well as major news wires.

Ed held a Media and programming consultancy at Mississippi Valley State University, Delta Research and Cultural Institute from 2006-2009. Duties involved teaching, advising and execution of culturally enriching special events and educational curricula utilizing both traditional and new media applications. In 2015 this evolved to working with Nollie Jenkins Family Center in Durant, Mississippi as a Media Consultant. There he taught students (Grade 5-12) to learn video production and explore other new media tools. Through this program, they can document issues that affect them and their community. As a result, the participants create greater awareness of issues inherent to them as well as similar issues that are of interest to the general public. The program further develops technical aptitude with various media tools and fosters critical thinking about their community.

He has an ongoing consultancy with Prestige Sports International (Now Prestige Athletes Benefit Group) In this capacity, Ed assisted with the NFL draft and NFL player management. He also assists in the development of creative marketing strategies as well as endorsement and diversified investment opportunities for professional athletes.

Activities also include mining and assistance with player filings for the NFL concussion lawsuit by supporting case development with several law firms.
As an actor, Ed was featured twice on the 90s NBC-TV hit, “Heat of the Night”. In 2011, Ed shared a leading role with Jasmine Guy in a short film entitled “Blossoms For Clara”. He also had a leading role in the feature film “Redemption of the Commons”. He recently appeared in the feature film “The Other Side” with Roger Guenvire Smith and Miquel Nunez. He has appeared in several award-winning short films. He most recently acted in a film project for Magic Johnson’s Aspire-TV entitled “TRE” and an appearance on the CW-TV hit series, “Black
Lightning”.
